I’m a former Head of History at Scotch College.
Although I left teaching to try my hand at private enterprise, I’ve maintained my links to the subject by tutoring a few select students each year.
They’ve generally performed well in the subject (see below). Part of the reason they succeed is that I don’t mind going all out to help. Notes which clarify content, “How to” formulas for answering questions, and in-depth feedback, are all part of the learning process as far as I’m concerned.
The other part is that I was fortunate to have honed my understandings about how to succeed in the subject, at a school that arguably, has had the best across-the-board results in Modern History over the past 20 years.
Thank you so much for all the help and motivation and expertise you gave Luke with his History studies. He gained a mark of 62% in his ATAR exam and was pleased with his result, as we were. The mark indicates how well you prepared Luke for his exam and I can’t thank you enough.” I thoroughly recommend Neil who is really approachable and generous with his knowledge and his time. The handouts that Neil supplied and the tips to answering questions were invaluable. Thank you Neil.

It is a pleasure to recommend Neil Mattingley to anyone who is seeking a specialist. Neil offered our daughter a personal tutoring program that met with her individual needs. Within a short time, we noticed a great improvement in her approach to History assessments and examinations. Before tutoring, our daughter’s lowest achieving ‘5th’ subject was History. However, as a direct result of Neil’s one-on-one help, History became her second highest WACE subject, consequently raising her overall ATAR. We could not have hoped for a better result. Don’t pass Neil by!!!
